Dear participant:
New Horizon Ministries, Jackson Business Accelerator Collaboration (J-BAC), PRIYDE Institute, and other agencies have launched a city-wide initiative to increase business education and training, and business ownership within the metro Jackson area.
There are several outreach components of this initiative. The PRIYDE Institute is responsible for outreach to young adults (ages 14-21) who may be interested in starting their own business as well as outreach to business groups and professionals who are able to assist them as they learn.
The goal is to form a collaborative of business professionals who can help develop a strategy that can be implemented across the city. Those professionals will provide input to help develop the strategy, join the network, or serve in one of several capacities as well as refer young adults interested in business ownership to J-BAC for business plan assistance and coaching.
Given your role as a business development professional, we would like to visit with you and your colleagues to share more information about the initiative and how we might work together in developing the city-wide strategy. We look forward to your contributions to this important initiative.
Should you have questions, please contact Ja'Lisa Jorden, BET4YA Strategy Coordinator at: (769) 251-1408.
WHY IT MATTERS We envision a city that encourages young people, ages 14-21, to contribute to our economy by developing their entrepreneurial initiative. Those who promote entrepreneurship as a driver of economic vitality are encouraged to join "BET 4 Young Adults" to ensure that aspiring young adults choose a path toward greater achievement, have access to the learning and opportunities entrepreneurship provides, and advisers who can help them along the way. The real-life experience of creating and forming a small business helps young people emerge from the limitations of poverty, academic struggle, poor self-esteem, and low expectations.
